Plunge Electrical Discharge Machining AGIE
Plunge EDM reproduces the shape of a tool, called electrode, in a metallic piece shape.
The injection mold for the plastic pieces are machined by plunging.
The shape given by the electrode is the one of the molded object.
Each diascharge in the machining area creates a hole in the piec (mateiral removal) and an impact on the tool (wear of the electrode tool).
There is never mechanical contact between the electrode and the piece. The electrode is often made of copper or graphite.
